Mountain Lions Travel to Chadron to take on the Eagles this Weekend
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team (8-4-1 / 3-0 RMAC) travels to Chadron Nebraska this weekend to take on the Chadron State Eagles (3-6 / 2-2 RMAC). The four-game series begins on Saturday, March 2, at 12:00 p.m.
The Mountain Lions are undefeated in conference play this season as they swept Fort Lewis last weekend to start the 2013 conference season. Allie Corids helped lead UCCS last weekend to help the Mountain Lions start 3-0 in conference play. She was named the RMAC player of the week after she had a team-high 10 RBIs, went 7-for-10 from the plate and had a slugging percent of 1.000, with one homerun.
In games two and three of the tripleheader, Corids went a combined 6-for-7 with three runs scored and eight runs batted in. Corids is currently 2nd in the conference for RBIs with 20.
The Eagles enter this weekend first in the RMAC in sacrifice hits (5) and homeruns (6) through the first weekend of conference play. The Mountain Lions are first in the RMAC for batting average (.474), on base percent (549), and slugging percent (.750).
There are also three other Mountain Lions who are in the top three for various individual statistics. Jessica Belsterling is third for homeruns (4), Payton Kornfeind is third for stolen bases (6), and Becca Smith is third for strikeouts (47).
