Belsterling Earns RMAC Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior Jessica Belsterling earned the first RMAC Player of the Week honor of the softball season after she helped lead the Mountain Lions to an unbeaten record last weekend. UCCS went 4-0-1 for the best start to the season since 2007.

Belsterling hit for the cycle in the first game of the season against Regis on Friday afternoon and added five RBIs. She finished the weekend with eight RBIs, hit .538 and a slugging percentage of 1.000. She also pitched against Adams State over the weekend and earned the win in a 15-6 victory in five innings.

UCCS will continue the nonconference schedule this weekend at the Desert Stinger Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. The Mountain Lions open with Western Washington on Friday afternoon in a five-game weekend.
