Belsterling Hits for the Cycle in a Win to Start the Season
Jessica Belsterling hit for the cycle to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to a 19-3 victory in five innings this against Regis in a non-conference matchup to begin the 2013 season. Belsterling hit a flawless four-for-four in the game and recorded five RBIs.
Becca Smith made her pitching debut with 10 strikeouts in the five innings. She allowed just seven hits and three earned runs in her first win as a Mountain Lion. Allie Corids also had a great offense game as she hit four-of-five in the game for four RBIs.
The Mountain Lions finished the game hitting .541 as a team, as they mercy rule the Rangers in the fifth inning.
UCCS played Adams State in the second game of the day. The game was delayed due to darkness, and was picked up in the third inning the following day.
The Mountain Lions finished that game in five innings as well, defeating the Grizzlies 15-6, to improve to 2-0 to start the season.
UCCS had four players with two RBIs each. Leading the way as TJ Flodman, who went two-for-three and had the only homerun of the game. Becca Smith also went two-for-three and had the team's only double of the game.
Jessica Belsterling followed up her dominate hitting performance with a stellar pitching appearance in the win against Adams State. Belsterling allowed nine hits and four earned runs in her five inning win.
Up Next: The UCCS Mountain Lions have three games left this weekend in Denver, as they face Metro State, Colorado Mines and Adams State again.
