Krebs to Enter RMAC Hall of Fame
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Crystal Krebs, a member of the inaugural University of Colorado Colorado Springs Athletic Hall of Fame last April, will become the first Mountain Lion in school history to join the RMAC Hall of Fame next summer. She will be the first softball student-athlete in conference history to be inducted into the league's hall of fame.
Krebs was the 2004 NCAA Division II Catcher of the Year and set the national record with 0.52 home runs per game in 2005. She won the RMAC triple crown and was the conference player of the year in both seasons with UCCS. Krebs was the first Capital One Academic All-American in school history in 2005 and was a member of the RMAC All-Century team in 2009.
The Mountain Lions won 76 percent of its conference games during Krebs' two seasons and qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history in her first season. UCCS won the regular season and conference tournament in 2004.
Krebs finished a cumulative grade point average of 3.54 in geography and environmental studies, and worked in the community with the Halloween Boo-zar, Care and Share, Read Across America and put together Thanksgiving baskets for needy families. She's currently the Head Softball Coach at Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument, Colo.
The RMAC Hall of Fame will take place July 12 at the Colorado Springs Marriott. The social hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by the dinner at 6 p.m. and the ceremony at 7 p.m. Individual reservations for $55 for tables of 10 for $500 will go on sale through the RMAC closer to the ceremony.
