Three Softball Players Named to RMAC Academic Honor Roll

COLORADO SPRINGS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs softball team recently had three players named to the 2012 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll. Erin Milburn, Jessica Belsterling and Melissa DeWitt were all honored.

Milburn has a 3.50 GPA in Criminal Justice, while Belsterling (Health Science) and DeWitt (English) have GPA's of 3.42 and 3.78, respectively.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Graduate students must have earned a 3.30 in their undergrad and graduate classes. The listed GPA is what the student-athletes had earned prior to softball season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of softball selected first and second team Academic All-RMAC.

May 10, 2012Mathewson Named to 2012 NFCA All-Central Region TeamColorado Springs, CO: Lara Mathewson was named to the 2012 NFCA All-Central Region Team today. Mathewson led the Mountain Lion offense this past season, by hitting a team best 11 home runs (tied 6th best in the conference) and had the 2nd highest batting average on the team at .419 (11th best in the conference). She also led the team with 42 RBI’s and was 3rd on the team in hits (49). She was also had a .803 slugging percentage which was good for 4th best in the conference, as well as the 5th best on base percentage in the conference at .511%. Mathewson started all 38 games for the Mountain Lions that she played in.

UCCS junior Lara Mathewson was named first team conference, sophomore Jessica Belsterling was named second team, true freshman Emily Jennings made the third team, and Junior Landry Davis made third team.
