UCCS Battles, But Comes Up Short Against Concordia-St. Paul

By Nathan Gibson published February 17, 2012

PUEBLO, CO - The UCCS Women's Softball team completed the Friday doubleheader by playing Concordia-St. Paul in their second game of the RMAC/NSIC Crossover Tournament hosted by Colorado State University - Pueblo.

The second game, unfortunately, ended like the first with the Mountain Lions coming up short against Concordia.  Unlike the first game, the Mountain Lion jumped out to an early two run lead in the first frame, but Concordia answered with seven runs over the next three innings that turned out to be enough to seal the victory.  UCCS battled back, but lost 7-5.  Freshman Korey Kulpins was the pitcher of record for the Mountain Lions.

Rheana Trujillo co-led the Mountain Lion offensively going 2-4 with a triple, and scoring twice.  Jessica Belsterling, hitting behind Trujillo, did all of the scoring damage accounting for all 5 RBI's on the afternoon.

The UCCS Women's Softball team will complete the two day tournament in Pueblo with a Saturday double header against Black Hills State at 10 am and Minnesota State at noon.
