Mathewson Named to Daktronics All-Central Region Second Team

University of Colorado Colorado Springs second baseman Lara Mathewson was named to the 2011 Daktronics, Inc., Softball All-Central Region Second Team, it was announced Wednesday.

Mathewson led the Mountain Lions with a .386 batting average, a .601 slugging percentage and a .464 on base percentage. She was third on the team in both RBIs with 29 and home runs with seven.

The composition of the All-Region squads were two teams (1st and 2nd) comprised of 13 persons based on position breakdown (1 C, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 SS, 3 OF, 1 DP, 1 UT, 3 P). The regional Player and Pitcher of the Year (separate ballots) were also selected by the sports information directors of each school in the region.

The NCAA's Division II Central Region is comprised of schools from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
