By Doug Fitzgerald published April 25, 2011

A quartet of University of Colorado at Colorado Springs softball players were named to the 2011 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll. Erin Milburn, Caitlin Connelly, Jenna Mott and Melissa DeWitt were all honored.

Milburn has a 3.31 GPA in Criminal Justice and is also third among the Mountain Lions in hitting with a .330 batting average. The sophomore from Anthem, Ariz., is second on the team with nine doubles and is fourth in slugging percentage (.504) and third in on base percentage (.403).

Connelly, a Nursing major, has a 3.62 GPA. She's second on the team in on base percentage at .418 and fourth in RBIs with 20.

Mott is also a Nursing major and has a 3.31 GPA. She's a movement pitcher who provides a nice change of pace from hard throwers Becca Smith and Jessica Belsterling. DeWitt has a 3.67 GPA as an English major. She has battled injuries this season but has still provided top-tier defensive play in the outfield as well as first base.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Graduate students must have earned a 3.30 in their undergrad and graduate classes. The listed GPA is what the student-athletes had earned prior to softball season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of softball selected first and second team Academic All-RMAC.
