Softball Signs Slugger Emily Jennings to 2011-12 Season
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs softball coach Scott Peterson announced on Monday that he received a National Letter of Intent for Emily Jennings. Jennings, a slugger from Liberty High School, will be joining the Mountain Lions for the 2011-12 season.
"We have based our recruiting on getting athletic players and (Jennings) certainly fits that package," said Peterson.
Working through a shoulder injury, Jennings was a top 10 offensive leader in Colorado this past season and an All-State Honorable Mention. She earned All-State honors her Junior year, was chosen by ESPN as a top Colorado Junior, and was named 1st Team Gazette Athletes of the Year. Jennings is going to add to the already potent line-up Peterson has formed.
"(Jennings) is a very talented hitter. She can hit the ball to all fields with power and consistency. She has played for two of the top club teams in Colorado and has seen some of the best competition nationally. We have great expectations of Emily developing into a very solid hitter in the middle of our line-up." Peterson added, "Defensively we are excited to see where (Jennings) fits as she has played numerous positions."
