Anastos Named First-Team All-Region

COLORADO SPRINGS - University of Colorado at Colorado Springs first baseman Jessika Anastos was named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-Central Region first team, the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association announced Thursday.

The junior from Broomfield set a new NCAA Division II record this season by hitting 0.57 home runs per game (24 in 42 games). She broke the previous record of 0.52 per game set by former UCCS star Crystal Krebs in 2005.

Anastos also led NCAA Division II with a 1.121 slugging percentage, was 14th in RBIs per game (1.29) and 17th in on base percentage (.535).

By being chosen first team all-region, Anastos' automatically advances to the All-American ballot.
