COLORADO SPRINGS -- University of Colorado at Colorado Springs softball coach Scott Peterson added a sixth player to an already impressive recruiting class Wednesday when Ashley Jordan of Erie High School signed her national letter of intent.

Jordan joins Allie Benkert of Pine Creek, Christina Blanton from Cherokee Trail, Taryn Duncan from Columbine, Chara Horsley from Loveland and Megan McGinnis from Holy Family, all of whom signed last week.

Jordan was a first-team Class 4A All-State selection by the Rocky Mountain News after hitting .453 with 10 doubles in 53 at bats this past season. The outfielder scored 22 runs had 23 RBIs in just 17 games.

Jordan, the younger sister of UCCS pitcher Holly Jordan, will be the fourth player from Erie HS to play at UCCS since Peterson became coach in 2001. The other four (Brittni Carlson, Sarah Cleland and Holly Jordan) have been impact players for the Mountain Lions.

"We are very excited to sign Ashley to a letter of intent today and have her join the great line of players from Erie, Colorado," said Peterson. "I think it also deserves mention that 3 of these 4 great players are all related. What a great thing for UCCS, our softball program, and the Carlson and Jordan Families."
