Shandera Wins Academic Honor

Lindsay Shandera of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs was named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Region VII second team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.

UCCS is in the College Division, which includes NCAA Divisions II and III plus the NAIA.

Shandera, an Accounting major, posted a 3.68 cumulative GPA. She also hit .421 with 13 home runs and 69 RBIs. She ranked No. 8 nationally as the toughest batter to strike out with only three strikeouts in 159 at bats and 201 plate appearances.

A senior, Shandera has already secured a post-graduation position with an accounting firm.
