By Doug Fitzgerald published March 1, 2007

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs first baseman Lindsay Shandera was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference player of the week, the conference announced Wednesday.

The senior from Mill Creek, Wash., went 9-for-11 with 14 RBIs as the Mountain Lions swept Chadron State in four games. Shandera also had eight runs, three home runs and a double in the series.

For the season, Shandera's .605 batting average is the best in the RMAC among players with at least 15 plate appearances. She also boasts a .685 on base percentage and a .953 slugging percentage.

A Mountain Lions player has now earned an RMAC award in each of the three weeks they've been presented this season. Stacy Haney was named player of the week for Week 1, while Libby White was pitcher of the week for Week 2.

It was the first player of the week award ever for Shandera, who has a .384 career batting average.
