UCCS Receiving National Votes
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - After posting their third consecutive victory of the 2013 season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is receiving votes in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire National Poll. The Mountain Lions also moved up to fourth in the South Central Regional poll.
Since the first poll released Sept. 10, UCCS moved up one spot from their previous No. 5 ranking. The only two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams that are ranked higher than UCCS are top-ranked Fort Lewis (4-0) followed by the Colorado School of Mines (3-0-1). The Mountain Lions are on the cusp of joining Fort Lewis (No. 7) and Colorado Mines (No. 13) in the NSCAA national poll.
The votes in the national poll are the first mention since the Oct. 16, 2012, poll. UCCS reached as high as No. 11 in the 2012 national polls, which came on Sept. 18.
In the home opener on Friday, Sept. 13 UCCS defeated Fort Hays State (2-3) by a score of 3-0 for its second shutout victory in just three games. The Mountain Lions have outscored their opponents 10-2 and currently rank third in the RMAC for both goals and goals against.
The Mountain Lions begin conference play on Friday, Sept. 20 when they travel to Alamosa, Colo. to take on the Adams State Grizzlies (3-0-0).
