KANSAS CITY, Kan. - In the first NSCAA/Continental Tire South Central regional poll of the 2013 season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs holds a fifth place ranking.

Topping the Regional Poll is the Colorado School of Mines, who is also currently ranked no. six in the National Poll. UCCS is currently ranked one slot higher than Metro State, who entered the 2013 season with a third place ranking in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

In its season-opening trip to Pueblo, Colo., UCCS (2-0, 0-0 RMAC) defeated Concordia University St. Paul (0-2) and East Central Oklahoma University (0-2) by scores of 3-0 and 4-2, respectively.  Friday's win against Concordia St. Paul marked the first shutout victory of the season in as many matches. The Mountain Lions potent offense tallied seven goals and eight assists for a total of 22 points in the first two games of the season.

The UCCS offense proved to be well-balanced as eight different players have already combined for points. Senior forward Agnes Arnadottir leads the team with six points off three goals scored in the first weekend of action. Arnadottir scored her 18th career goal against East Central which moved her into a tie for most career goals in UCCS program history. Fellow senior goalkeeper Kelly Schroeder recorded six saves and one shutout in 90:00 minutes of play as she was credited with both wins over the weekend.

UCCS will look to continue its undefeated streak this Friday Sept. 13 as they host Fort Hays State (1-1) in the first home match of the season at 7:30 p.m. in Mountain Lion Stadium.
