Men's Soccer Bracketology

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team (4-7-3 / 3-6-3 RMAC) has a chance to sneak into the RMAC end of season playoffs with a strong final weekend of conference play and some help.

UCCS currently sits in seventh place in the RMAC with 12 points on the season. They are currently behind Adams State (13) and Fort Lewis (15) but within striking distance of both depending how the final weekend goes.

UCCS has senior night at home this Friday night against Colorado Christian (3-12-1 / 2-9-1 RMAC) and their final road game at CSU-Pueblo (3-12-1 / 2-9-1 RMAC) this Sunday.

Soccer tiebreaker system:

  1. Total points against RMAC opponents only. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss will be awarded.
  2. Head to Head results on win-loss-tie only.
  3. Goal Differential throughout entire RMAC schedule only.
  4. Head to Head goal differential.
  5. Most goals scored throughout entire Conference schedule.
  6. Fewest goals allowed throughout entire Conference schedule.
  7. Approved Rating System against all Division II opponents only.
  8. Overall won-lost winning percentage.
  9. Coin Toss by Commissioner.

In the event of a three way or more team tie, the ranking system is used in order from the beginning to the end until a team is eliminated. The remaining teams then begin again at the first step of the ranking system until all teams are eliminated except for one.

Rating System:

-5 points for a win against a .500 or above team on the road

-4 points for a win against a .500 or above team at home

-4 points for a win against a below .500 team on the road

-3 points for a win against a below .500 team at home

-3 points for a tie against a .500 or above team on the road

-2 points for a tie against a .500 or above team at home

-2 points for a tie against a below .500 team on the road

-1 point for a tie against a below .500 team at home

-1 point for a loss against a .500 or above team at home or on the road

-0 points for a loss against a below .500 team at home or on the road

Adams State and Fort Lewis Impact:

If the Grizzlies and Skyhawks both win out than UCCS has no chance to make the playoffs, plain and simple. Adams State travels to CSU-Pueblo on Friday night and takes on Colorado School of Mines at home Sunday afternoon. Fort Lewis plays Colorado School of Mines as home Friday and travels to Colorado Christian on Sunday.

UCCS owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against Fort Lewis but does not own it against Adams State.

Below is a very thorough breakdown of each possible scenario that could take place this weekend in which UCCS would make the playoffs.
