UCCS Men's Soccer preps for final stretch
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Less than two weeks remain in the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (4-5-3 / 3-4-3 RMAC) Men's Soccer regular season and if it all ended today the Mountain Lions would not be heading to the RMAC playoffs.
UCCS has 12 points on the season and is currently tied for sixth place in the RMAC standings with Adams State (12) and behind Fort Lewis (15). In the event that UCCS and Adams State remain tied at the end of the season Adams State holds the tiebreaker since they won the head-to-head matchup earlier this season.
With that being said, the importance of these final four games cannot be stressed enough.
It kicks off with a tough road game at Colorado School of Mines (9-3-1 / 7-3 RMAC) tonight in Golden, Colo. and continues later this week with another road matchup at Regis University (8-2-1 / 7-2-1 RMAC) in Denver, Colo. These are the top two teams in the RMAC at number one and two respectively.
UCCS trails the all-time series with Colorado School of Mines 13-35-2 and lost the matchup earlier this season 1-2 at home on Sept. 29.
James Roberts continue to impress on the offensive end this season where he leads the Mountain Lions in multiple offensive categories including goals (6), assists (3) and game winners (2).
Colton Briscoe (1143), Taylor Ferguson (1132) and Max Thomas (1130) have been staples in the UCCS lineup this fall as all three players have surpassed the thousand minutes played mark and lead the team in that category.
