Roberts makes the grade for RMAC All-Academic First Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - James Roberts continues to impress this season with the junior midfielder on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Men Soccer team earning RMAC All-Academic First Team honors for the 2013 season.
The All-Academic First Team and Honor Roll is how the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference recognizes all-academic performers in the sport of men's soccer. To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and have completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. The student-athlete's cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to soccer season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools which sponsor the sport of men's soccer selected the first team.
Roberts is the leading scorer for the Mountain Lions this season where his season totals in goals (5), assists (3), points (13), and game winning goals (2) are all team highs. His totals in the classroom are just as impressive where the Sport Management major has a 3.60 GPA. This is the second time in as many seasons that Robert's has been recognized for his achievements in the classroom with the team captain garnering RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll accolades in 2012.
The Perrysburg, Ohio native is currently on pace to finish the season with the sixth best points per game average in program history at 1.30 per contest.
Liam Levy-Philipp (3.56) and Chris Welch (3.68) were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll while majoring in Health Sciences and Pre-Med respectively.
You can catch these student athlete role models in action this Friday as the Mountain Lions take on Metro State at Mountain Lion Stadium with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
