Mountain Lions Remain Eighth in Coaches Regional Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (9-5-1, 6-5-1 RMAC) remains among the best in the latest NSCAA South Central poll, earning a No. 8 ranking.
The same five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams are represented in the top 10 poll, with unbeaten and nationally ranked No. 2 Colorado Mines (15-0-1, 12-0 RMAC) earning the top spot.
UCCS picked up four conference points over a span of three games this past week. The Mountain Lions earned their lone win over Colorado Christian (4-12, 1-11), played to their first tie of the season with Adams State (5-5-6, 2-4-6), and closed the weekend with a loss to No. 21 Fort Lewis (13-3, 9-3).
With only one weekend left to play in the regular season, UCCS remains to confirm their bid to the RMAC tournament. The Mountain Lions are currently tied with New Mexico Highlands (8-5-3, 6-5-1) for fourth place, with the top six teams qualifying for the tournament.
UCCS will host New Mexico Highlands in a vital Friday night showdown as both teams are vying to host a RMAC first round playoff game. If UCCS secures the fourth spot, it would be the second straight year the Mountain Lions have hosted a playoff game.
Kickoff against New Mexico Highlands is set for 5 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium.
