UCCS Offense Comes Alive in Tonight's 3-1 Win at Colorado Christian
LAKEWOOD, Colo.- Five different players recorded points for the Mountain Lions tonight as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (9-4, 6-4 RMAC) cruised to a 3-1 win over Colorado Christian (4-10, 1-9 RMAC).
It took less than ten minutes for UCCS to get on the board tonight as senior Agnes Arnadottir rocketed a shot from 15 yards out to score her seventh of the season unassisted. Seven minutes later, sophomore Taylor Braden notched her first goal of the season.
The Mountain Lions have found much success off set pieces this season and tonight was no exception. Kia Jeffords earned the helper on Braden's goal after she played the short pass to Braden off the corner kick. Braden's shot from the 18 yard box skimmed through traffic before finding the back of the net.
Senior Kristi Blicharz netted her first collegiate goal with the Mountain Lions tonight in the 57th minute of play. Hannah Levett earned an assist on the play when she set up Blicharz who converted from 15 yards out finding the far corner of the net.
Power forwards Hannah Levett and Agnes Arnadottir continue their race for points as after tonight they are once again tied for the team lead. Both have netted seven goals and one assist for 15 points a piece. Defender Kia Jeffords now leads the Mountain Lions in assists after adding her fifth in tonight's win.
Kelly Schroeder made one save in net tonight before earning the win.
The Mountain Lions will have two days rest before they hit the field again on Friday night in a matchup with Adams State (5-5-4, 2-4-4 RMAC). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium.
