UCCS Begins Three-Game Week Tonight at Christian
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- A tough three game schedule lies ahead this week for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team (8-4, 5-4 RMAC) and all it kicks off tonight in Lakewood, Colo. for a rematch with Colorado Christian (4-9, 1-8 RMAC).
The Mountain Lions will look to bounce back tonight after suffering a 2-0 loss in their most recent game to No. 12 Metro State (11-0-3, 9-0-1). Sunday's loss was only the second time this season that UCCS has been held scoreless.
Colorado Christian also fell to Metro State last week in a 7-0 loss. After opening the season with one of their best records in program history, the Cougars have struggled as of late. CCU has been outscored by their opponents 25-2 in conference play so far.
Freshman Mariah Fredericks leads the Cougars' attack with five goals (2 GW) and one assist for 11 points. Teammate Gabriele Blahnik is also enjoying a strong freshman campaign with four goals for eight points.
In the last meeting between UCCS and CCU played on Sept. 25, the Mountain Lions came away with a 2-0 victory. Agnes Arnadottir earned the game winning goal off a corner kick assisted by Kia Jeffords. Michaela Mansfield also scored her first collegiate goal in the match.
UCCS holds a commanding 7-2 advantage in the all-time series record against Colorado Christian since starting the program in 2008. In those nine games, the Mountain Lions have outscored CCU 22-12.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. tonight at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, Colo.
