UCCS Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 17 in the Nation
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A perfect 5-0 start to the season has earned the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team a No. 17 ranking in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II poll. The Mountain Lions also improved to third in the NSCAA/Continental Tire South Central Regional poll.
The No. 17 ranking marks the first time the Mountain Lions have cracked into the national top 25 this season. UCCS was nationally ranked for the first time in program history in 2012 and reached as high as the No. 11 spot.
UCCS is one of three RMAC teams to be represented in this week's national poll selection. The other RMAC teams include No. 5 Fort Lewis (5-0-0) and No. 13 Colorado School of Mines (5-0-1).
The Mountain Lions also moved up one spot in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire South Central Regional Poll. The top three teams and six of the top 10 teams in the regional poll are from the RMAC.
Last weekend marked the beginning of conference play with UCCS traveling to Alamosa and Gunnison for matchups against Adams and Western State, respectively. The Mountain Lions posted a pair of 1-0 shutout victories for their perfect 5-0 record.
UCCS will match up against Colorado Christian on Wednesday, Sept. 25, before a top-20 contest with No. 13 Colorado School of Mines on Sunday Sept. 29. Both games will be at home in Mountain Lion Stadium.
