Women's Soccer Picked to Advance to RMAC Tournament in Preseason Poll
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team was picked to advance to the conference tournament for the fourth time in the program's sixth season in the 2013 RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released this afternoon. The Mountain Lions were picked fifth among the 11 teams.
UCCS tied for third in the regular season standings and earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament. The Mountain Lions return the defending RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Kelly Schroeder, who ranks eighth in conference career records with 14 shutouts.
Head Coach Nichole Ridenour led the Mountain Lions to a No. 11 national finish in 2012 and a 13-4-2 overall record. It was the first winning season in the five-year history of the program and led to the first home playoff game in program history.
UCCS opens the 2013 season at home in an exhibition contest with NCAA Division I South Dakota on Sept. 1. The regular season begins Sept. 6 against Concordia-St. Paul in Pueblo, Colo.
