Fall Sports Report Sunday, Begin Practices Monday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2013 fall season will get underway this weekend with University of Colorado Colorado Springs student-athletes report for preseason meetings on Sunday and begin practices on Monday.
The UCCS women's soccer team will conduct an early two-mile run on Monday morning and perform conditioning at Mountain Lion Stadium before departing for a week-long retreat in Winter Park. The men's soccer team will hold its first practices in the morning and early evening on Monday.
Both soccer teams are coming off of RMAC tournament appearances from the 2012 season. The women hosted a conference playoff game for the first time in program history while the men won a tournament game for the first time since 1998.
Men's and women's cross country will conduct 7 a.m., workouts in two locations throughout Colorado Springs. The teams both advanced to the national championships last season. The UCCS women placed No. 10 in the nation while the men tied for No. 11.
Volleyball will hold two practices on Monday at the UCCS Student Recreation Center. Head Coach Chrissy Elder begins her first season with the Mountain Lions, who advanced to the RMAC tournament last season.
The UCCS athletic department matched its best all-time finish in the RMAC All-Sport Competition cup last season. All five teams that begin practice on Monday were regionally ranked in 2012, and three teams were nationally ranked.

Due to the nature of the match being a playoff game it headed to a shootout where the Mavericks won the shootout 6-5 to advance.|
