Defense Shines in Season-Opening Victory
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A combination of great defense, goalkeeping, and an own goal provided the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team a win in its season-opener against Fort Hays State 1-0 on Friday night at Mountain Lion Stadium.
In a defensive contest the Mountain Lions scored in the 72nd minute on a corner kick by Lindsey Birdseye that glanced off of a Fort Hays State defender and into the net.
