Searls Signs with UCCS Men's Soccer
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs Head Men's Soccer Coach Johnnie Keen is excited to announce the signing of Cort Searls of Frisco, Texas, to a National Letter of Intent. Searls joins J. R. Calhoun and Derek Saunier as signees in the 2013 men's soccer class.
"Cort is a very exciting signing for the Mountain Lion team," Keen said. "He is a utility player with the ability to play anywhere across the midfield. Cort has a long history of winning championships and he should fit in very well with a team that is on the verge of winning one themselves."
Searls is a three-year captain for Frisco Heritage High School. He was a First Team All-State selection in 2012 and was the district Most Valuable Player after he led the Coyotes to the district title. Searls was also the left midfielder for the Dallas Texans Red 95 team, and helped the club team to championships in the Disney Cup, Dallas Cup, Tivoli Cup and the Gothia Cup in Sweden. The Texas also won the North Texas State Cup three consecutive years.
The Mountain Lions finished the 2012 season in the RMAC semifinals after the first playoff victory since 1998. UCCS put together a five-game winning streak midway through the season, the longest winning streak since 2000, and hosted its first playoff game in program history.
