UCCS Misses National Tournament Berth
INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs was left out of the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Championship field announced tonight by the NCAA. The Mountain Lions finished the best season in program history with a 13-4-2 record and tied for third in the RMAC standings.
UCCS marked the fifth season of women's soccer with the first national ranking in program history and the first home conference playoff game in program history. The Mountain Lions placed three student-athletes on the All-RMAC teams, including Goalkeeper of the Year Kelly Schroeder. The three all-conference selections were the most in a single season for the Mountain Lions in program history.
The Mountain Lions started the season with six consecutive victories and won nine contests this season by shutout. UCCS finished the home season at 9-2-1.
The RMAC qualified three teams for the South Central Region tournament, the early rounds of the national tournament, to be held this weekend at two sites in Texas.
