TOWSON, Md. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior midfielder Mash Shaswar earned Capital One Division II Academic All-America Third Team honors, announced this morning by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Shaswar is the first Mountain Lion to earn a spot on the Academic All-America men's soccer teams in program history and the fourth student-athlete among all sports at UCCS.

Shaswar finished his career after he helped lead the Mountain Lions to their deepest playoff run since 2001. He led UCCS with eight goals, 17 points and with three game-winning goals during the season. He was a Daktronics All-South Central Region Second Team pick and All-RMAC Second Team selection.

Shaswar became the first Mountain Lion in program history to earn a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District First Team and was named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team. He's a two-time member of one of the conference academic teams. Shaswar carried a 3.64 grade point average in sports medicine going into this semester.

UCCS finished the season in the RMAC semifinals and won its first conference playoff game since 1998. The Mountain Lions hosted a playoff game for the first time in program history.

The Capital One Academic All-America program was established in 1952 by CoSIDA to recognize the best student-athletes on the field of competition and in the classroom. The All-America teams were selected by the CoSIDA Academic All-America National Committee after the nominees earned all-district first team honors. Student-athletes needed a 3.30 grade point average, be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility and be at the current institution for at least two semesters to qualify.
