UCCS No. 10 in Final Regular Season Men's Coaches Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The University of Colordo Colorado Springs came in at No. 10 in the final men's soccer regional ranking by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Mountain Lions finished the 2012 season after the deepest playoff run in more than a decade last Friday in the RMAC semifinals.
UCCS finished the season at 9-9-1 and fourth in the conference standings. The Mountain Lions hosted their first RMAC playoff game in program history and won their first conference playoff game since 1998 with a 1-0 victory against Colorado Mesa in the quarterfinals. Mash Shaswar, Brett Drefs and Max Thomas were each named to the All-RMAC Second Team while Gabe Causse earned a spot on the third team.
Shaswar was also the first Mountain Lion in program history to be named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team. He joined Causse on the RMAC All-Academic First Team while Justin Shalongo earned a second team spot.
UCCS put together a five-game win streak midway through the season for the longest win streak since 2000. Part of that win streak included a win at Fort Lewis for the first time since 1999.
