Mountain Lions Left Out of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs missed the regional tournament after the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Championship field announced tonight by the NCAA. The Mountain Lions finished their season in the RMAC semifinals after winning their first conference playoff game since 1998.

UCCS finished with a 9-9-1 record and fourth in the RMAC standings. Mash Shaswar, Brett Drefs and Max Thomas were a member of the All-RMAC Second Team and Gabe Causse was a Third Team selection for the Mountain Lions. It was the most all-conference team members forUCCS since 1999.

Shaswar was also the first Mountain Lion in program history to earn a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District First Team. He joinedCausse on the RMAC All-Academic First Team while Justin Shalongo earned a Second Team honor.

UCCS put together a five-game win streak midway through the season for the longest win streak since 2000, defeated Fort Lewis in Durango for the first time since 1999 and hosted its first conference playoff game in program history.

Three teams from the South Central Region, including two from the RMAC, qualified for the national tournament.
