Shaswar and Causse Lead Men's Soccer RMAC All-Academic Honorees
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer seniors Mash Sashwar and Gabe Causse each earned RMAC All-Academic First Team honors announced by the conference office late Tuesday. The Mountain Lions were one of three teams with multiple first team selections.
Justin Shalongo was also a Second Team selection while James Roberts earned a spot on the Honor Roll. Student-athletes needed a cumulative grade point average of 3.30, be in at least their second semester of attendance and be a starter or key reserve. The First and Second Teams were voted on by the sports information directors at schools that sponsor men's soccer.
Shaswar is leading UCCS with six goals this season and is seventh in the RMAC in scoring. He scored the game-winning goals against Colorado College and at Colorado State-Pueblo, and is third in conference for shots on goal. Shaswar carries a 3.64 grade point average in sports medicine and is making his second appearance on the conference all-academic teams in his career.
Causse moved to the defense earlier this season and has helped post shutouts in three of the last four home games. He's started 10 games this season and is earning a 3.68 grade point average in sport management. Causse was a member of the Honor Roll last season.
Shalongo carries a 3.57 grade point average in political science and has made two starts in 10 appearances this season. He has stepped in to set up the Mountain Lion corner kicks in four games.
UCCS will close out the regular season home schedule this weekend with a Friday night game with Adams State and Sunday afternoon contest with Colorado State-Pueblo. The Mountain Lions are third in the RMAC standings with five games remaining in the regular season.
