Mountain Lions Improve to 4-0 for First Time in Program History
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team used a combination of great defense and timely goal scoring to win 1-0, and improve to 4-0 for the first time in program history.
In a highly contested game in which the Mountain Lions controlled play, the difference occurred in the second half. In the 75th minute the Mountain Lions used a corner kick by Jenna Lubieniecki that hit Annick Pearson before glancing off two Western Colorado student-athletes in front and bounced into the bottom right corner of the net,
In addition to the 4-0 start to the season, it's also the first four-game winning streak in program history. The win was also the fifth straight home victory dating back to last season.
Hannah Rather led the offense for UCCS with seven shots and two on goal. The Mountain Lions recorded 31 total shots on the night, with nine on goal against the Mountaineer defense.
Up Next: The Mountain Lions will open conference play at home against New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m. Friday night at Mountain Lion Stadium. The Cowgirls have won their last two games, including a 1-0 victory against Western Colorado last Friday night.
