Mountain Lions Seventh in RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

published August 15, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Coming off its best season in program history, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer program was picked to finish seventh in the 2012 RMAC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll released this afternoon. It would be an improvement from last year's final placing and put the Mountain Lions in contention for the conference postseason tournament.

UCCS was picked to finish one spot better than last season by the conference coaches, who put the Mountain Lions eight points behind the sixth pick, New Mexico Highlands. An RMAC tournament appearance this fall would be the third trip to the tournament in the past four seasons for the Mountain Lions.

The opening round of the RMAC tournament will be held at campus sites Oct. 31 with the third through sixth seeds. The semifinals and finals will be at the top-seeded school on Nov. 2 and Nov. 4, respectively.

The Mountain Lions open the 2012 season with six home matches, starting with Fort Hays State on Aug. 31 and West Texas A&M on Sept. 2.
