UCCS Mountain Lions Carlos Verdugo and Matt Friesen named to the 2011 Daktronics Men's Soccer All-Central Region second-teams. Friesen was also named second-team all-region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Sports Information Directors from each school in the region nominated and voted for the Daktronics all-region team. Coaches nominate and vote for the NSCAA award.
Friesen, a senior, started just eight games this season due to injury, but still managed five goals with a shot on goal percent of .500.
Verdugo, also a senior, started in all 19 games for the Mountain Lions this season, was the anchor for a UCCS defense that allowed just 13.2 shots per game. Verdugo also contributed to the offense assisting on two goals.
