Four Mountain Lions named to all-RMAC men's soccer team
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team has four selections to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference all-conference teams. Two of the UCCS men were selected to the second team and two were selected to the third team.
Senior forward Matt Friesen and junior mid-fielder Bret Drefs were the RMAC second team selections. Drefs played in 18 games, starting 17 during the 2011 season. He scored six goals off of 40 shots on goal and contributed another three assists this season. Friesen started eight games and only played in 10 games due to injury issues during the 2011 season. Still, Friesen scored six goals off of 24 shots on goal.
Senior defender Carlos Verdugo and junior defender Max Thomas were the RMAC third team selections. Verdugo was the captain of the UCCS defense that posted the lowest goals-against average by a UCCS team since 2001. He also had two assists. Thomas was also a member of the stingy UCCS defense and added one assist.
