Alumni game scheduled for Saturday

By Doug Fitzgerald published April 21, 2009

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs menâ€TMs soccer team will welcome back some of the best athletes in school history as the Mountain Lions take on the alumni in the programâ€TMs annual alumni game on Saturday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m.

It will be the first alumni game since Henry Ellis replaced Flavio Mazzetti as UCCSâ€TM soccer coach. Previously held in August, Ellis wanted to make the event part of the teamâ€TMs spring season.

Thirty-four former UCCS players have confirmed their intention to play for the alumni team. Among them are: Greg Meyer, goalkeeper from 1994-97 and the first all-American at UCCS, Matt Bolton, the anchor of the UCCS defense from 1995-98, Jared Blackney, who is fifth on the UCCS career goals list, and Mike Archuleta, who was the teamâ€TMs goalkeeper from 1998-2001 and is second to Meyer in nearly every statistical category.
