UCCS to host Turkey Bowl
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs women's soccer coach Nichole Rick announced Tuesday that the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will host the 11th annual Turkey Bowl flag football game, which will be played at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Mountain Lion Stadium.
The game's organizers choose a charity to benefit from the game each year. This year's game will support Santa's Workshop, which collects toy for the children of Fort Carson soldiers.
To enter the game, bring a new, unwrapped toy or a money donation, with a minimum of each being $5.00.
"I think this is a good opportunity for my program to help get UCCS out in the community more and get my girls involved as well," said Rick, whose team went 5-13-1 in its inaugural season in 2008. "Anyone in town can come, have something to do and contribute to the greater cause."
