Official or not, win over Carthage feels good for Mountain Lions
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs' brand-new women's soccer team got its first goal, its first shutout and its first win Monday unofficially.
UCCS defeated the Carthage Lady Reds 1-0 in an exhibition game at Mountain Lion Stadium.
Lauren Hall got the goal, knocking home a loose ball in the 77th minute. Senior Amie Kern notched the shutout, making two saves behind a stingy defense that allowed just seven shots overall.
And the win, while it may not count in the records book, gave the Mountain Lions confidence heading into Friday's regular-season opener against Southwest Minnesota State.
