Soccer: Mazzetti resigns as UCCS men's soccer coach
Flavio Mazzetti resigned from his position as the head men's soccer coach at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the UCCS Athletic Department announced Tuesday.
"I am ready to pursue new challenges at this time and I am no longer able to continue as the head men's soccer coach," said Mazzetti, who is also active in real estate and the Corinthians Soccer Club, in his letter of resignation.
The UCCS Athletic Department is already assembling a search committee to fill the position.
Mazzetti compiled an overall record of 30-59-2 during his five years with the Mountain Lions and 19-41-2 within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. This past season, the Mountain Lions went 3-16, 2-12 in the RMAC.
His best season was in 2003, when UCCS went 10-8 overall and 8-4 in the RMAC. After that season, Mazzetti was named the RMAC co-coach of the year.
