GOLDEN, Colo. - The UCCS Mountain Lions fell 3-0 to the Colorado Mines Orediggers Sunday afternoon at Brooks Field despite a strong defensive stand in the first half.

The Mountain Lions (1-3, 1-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) allowed seven shots and six corner kicks in the first half. Mark Howard kept the first half a 0-0 tie with four saves.

In the second half, the Mountain Lions' defense was breached, giving up a goal to Craig Thompson in the 47th minute.

The Mountain Lions desperately tried to tie the game, getting eight shots, five on goal, in the second half. But Orediggers' goalkeeper Kevan Thurman was up to the task recording five saves in the second half to preserve his fourth shoutout of the season.

Thompson score two insurance goals in the 75th and 82nd minutes to complete the hat trick. The senior now has eight goals on the season.
