Cindy Bathelt of the surging University of Colorado at Colorado Springs volleyball team was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference setter of the week on Monday.
Bathelt contributed to the UCCS offense with 12.2 assists per set and a .416 hitting percentage (10-1-23) in three home wins against CSU-Pueblo, Adams State and Western State. She posted 45 assists against ASC, 39 against WSC and 38 against CSUP. Bathelt recorded two blocks each night against the Pack and the Mountaineers, and four against Adams State.
The sophomore transfer from the University of Florida has the UCCS offense humming. Over the past seven matches, the Mountain Lions have posted six of their top seven hitting percentages of the season. Over that span, UCCS is 6-1 with a .244 hitting mark compared to 6-6 and .169 over the first 12 matches.

Bathelt's individual numbers have increased just as dramatically. Over the first 12 matches, she averaged 8.72 assists per set, compared to 10.96 per set over the past seven matches.
Bathelt is the first UCCS volleyball player to receive a player of the week honor this season.
