Two players from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Volleyball team,
Sonja Johnson and
Andrea Brodie, were named to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic second team, which was announced on Thursday.
Three other Mountain Lions,
Cassey Santucci,
Kim Pollard and Alex Nuttall, were named to the All-Academic honorable role.
Johnson is an Electrical Engineering major with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average. The sophomore from Denver leads the Mountain Lions and is currently 23rd in the RMAC in kills with 182, averaging 2.33 per set. Johnson is also third on the team and 23rd in the RMAC in digs with 194 total, averaging 2.49 per set.
Brodie is a Health Care Science major with a 3.94 GPA. The junior from Parker is currently fourth on the team in kills with 138 and fourth on the team in blocks with 29.
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.30 or bett er, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their GPA is what they had earned prior to volleyball season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of volleyball selected first and second teams. A setter and defensive specialist were required to be represented on the first and second teams.
UCCS next play Oct. 23rd at Chadron State and Oct. 24th at Colorado Mines
The Mountain Lions next home games are Oct. 27th against Colorado Christian at 7pm and Oct. 30th against Nebraska-Kearney at 7pm.
