The UCCS women's volleyball program teamed up with the UCCS Sport Management program to raise $841 for Dig Pink, a nationwide event that helps the volleyball community to provide support, awareness, and funding towards breast cancer.
The programs worked through out the season to raise money at both volleyball games and soccer games. Â Along with game-time activities, the UCCS volleyball team members each raised money on their own to donate to the cause.
The culminating event took place on Friday, October 29th at the volleyball match versus Colorado Christian University. Â Both teams wore pink to honor the event. Â Fans were also decked out in pink and wore pink ribbons to commemorate the event. Â Prior to the start of the game, UCCS recognized the family members of the volleyball team who had battled breast cancer with pink roses.
All proceeds benefit the Side-Out Foundation, which in turn awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.
