University of Colorado at Colorado Springs junior
Sonja Johnson was named RMAC All-Academic second team, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced Wednesday. Six other Mountain Lions were also honored by the conference.
Johnson is an Electrical Engineering major with a team best 3.91 GPA. She is also third on the team with 164 kills this season.
Six UCCS players made the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll:
Cindy Bathelt, Alex Nuttall,
Nicole Pederson,
Jenica Shippy, Lindsey Stich, and
Kendall Utz. That means that  77.7% of the players that were eligible to receive the honor achieved the required 3.30 GPA.
Bathelt is majoring in Geography and has a 3.819 GPA. Nuttall is a Math major with a 3.683 GPA and is second on the team in kills with 184 and first on the team in aces with 19 this season. Pederson is majoring in Communications and has a 3.423 GPA to go along with her 156 kills and 62 blocks this year. Shippy is an Accounting major who achieved a 3.547 GPA and 121 kills this season. Stich is majoring in Physical Therapy and has a 3.358 GPA and is the best on the team with 540 assists this season. Utz is a Sport Management major with a 3.751 GPA and is tied for second on the team in aces with 18 this season as the team's libero.
The RMAC All-Academic first team consists of; Katlyn Heiserman from Nebraska-Kearney, Metro State's Anna Mapes, Devin Eckhardt of Regis, Cola Svec from Nebraska-Kearney, Ashley Wilkinson from CSU-Pueblo, Tija Rudzitis of Colorado Christian, and Taylor Hillberry from Fort Lewis.
