UCCS concluded its 2012 Mountain Lion Invitational on Sept. 8, as they defeated Midwestern State University in straight sets (25-17, 25-22, 25-19).
The Mountain Lions were led on offense by senior middle blocker
Nikki Kinzer, who finished the match with game-highs of 23 attacks for 12 kills and a kill percent of .522. Kinzer also contributed on the defensive side accumulating three block assists and five digs.
Freshman
Amanda Bloom also racked up double digit kills finishing the match with a total of 10. Bloom also added three digs and one block assist along with the only solo block for UCCS.
Kim Catlett had a well balanced game as she recorded seven kills on 18 team attacks with one assist and one block assist. Catlett was also had a team-high of 15 digs.
Seniors
Amy Einspahr and
Megan Koop both finished with six kills each, and combined for nine block assists.
Grace Gordon led the team in assists with 20, while adding 11 digs.
Senior setter Lindsey Stich finished with 18 assists, nine digs, and two kills.
The Mountain Lions finished the weekend 4-0 at home, and improve to 5-3 overall.
