The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs volleyball program has announced the addition of four players to their roster for the 2011 season. These players have already joined the team in this spring semester workouts and practices.

Coming in as a freshman defensive specialist, Heather Sanders joins the team after spending the first semester of the year at Otero Junior College.  Sanders is a 2010 graduate of Rampart High School.  During her junior year at Rampart she recorded 55 kills in four matches at the 5A state tournament where her team finished with a third-place showing,  earning her a second-team All-Metro League nomination.  Sanders' senior year she was first-team All-Metro League and a CHSGA All-State games participant.  At Otero, she led her team in kills, was named All-Tournament twice and placed on the All-Region team.
 
"Heather is a physically gifted athlete who will bring ball control, a good serve and knowledge of the system with her as she joins our team this spring," said UCCS coach Keith Barnett. "I am thrilled to be reunited with Heather again after coaching her for two years at Rampart High School."
 
Also a freshman, Laura Loosbrock joins the team as an outside hitter/opposite.  Loosbrock has transferred from Adams State College and is a 2010 graduate of Alamosa High School.  Loosbrock was first-team All-Conference her junior and senior years and led her team in kills and aces her senior year.  She also was nominated Max Preps All-State honorable mention.  At Adams State Loosbrock started in 41 sets as a freshman and finished the season ranked fifth in aces and 26th in kills per set in the RMAC.
 
"Laura was a large contributing factor to Adams' win over us in our match this past season, and I was impressed by her ability to continuously terminate the ball," said Barnett.  "I look forward to seeing her in a Mountain Lion jersey and contributing to our team for the next three years."
 
Joining the team as a sophomore is Amy Einspahr who transfers from Northeastern Junior College.  Einspahr is a 2008 graduate of Fleming High School and will be a middle blocker for the UCCS squad.  Einspahr was the 1A Player of the Year, State tournament Most Valuable Player, first-team All-State, and 2007 state champion her senior year of high school.  Her junior year her team was the state-runner up and Einspahr was All-Tournament first team at the state championships.  At Northeastern her skills earned her NJCAA All-Region honors.
 
"At 6'3", I think Amy could be a real presence at the net, and quite possibly a game-changer in terms of how teams have to prepare to face us," said Barnett.  "She is coming to us at the right time, as she has some big shoes to fill for the departing Nicole Pederson."
 
Finally Lindsy Heisler, a sophomore outside hitter, will be another powerful addition to the team.  Heisler joins the team after playing for Chadron State for two seasons.  She is a 2007 graduate of Rampart High School where she led the state in kills her senior year.  She was ranked the number one hitter in the state of Colorado.  In her first season at Chadron, Heisler was ninth in the RMAC with 3.49 kills per set.  Over the course of her two seasons she was named Nebraska Player of the Week twice, set five records at Chadron, and was on the Dean's list.
 
"As Lindsy is red-shirting this year, I have already had the opportunity to work with her quite a bit," said Barnett.  "I am impressed by her athleticism and work ethic, and I like how hard and well she hits the ball.  I'm excited to see her influence this team from an offensive standpoint."
