COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs middle blocker
Nikki Kinzer earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Year honors from the conference coaches as the 2012 RMAC Postseason Awards were announced today. She also earned a spot on the All-RMAC First Team.
Kinzer led the Mountain Lions to a regular season record of 18-10 and 12-7 in the RMAC as she led the nation in total blocks. She finishes the regular season with 1.67 blocks per set while adding 1.04 digs per set. Kinzer was the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week four times this season and named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team.
Kinzer will finish her collegiate career atop the leader board in UCCS history with 386 block assists. She is second all-time in the rally scoring era (since 2001) in career solo blocks at UCCS with 43. Kinzer is also eighth all-time in program history with 880 kills and led the Mountain Lions this season with 2.53 kills per set.
She aided the team to the RMAC tournament in two of her three seasons on the team and helped the Mountain Lions to a 10-4 home record this season, which is a record only topped once in school history. Kinzer has experienced three great seasons at UCCS, but none greater than this one.
