WAYNE, Neb. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior middle blocker
Nikki Kinzer finished a record-setting career with a spot on the Daktronics All-America Third Team, announced this morning by the Division II Sports Information Directors. She's the first All-American in program history.
Kinzer finished the season as the RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and on the Daktronics All-South Central Region First Team. She holds the UCCS record with 386 career block assists, is eighth in program records with 880 career kills and is second for the rally scoring era with 43 career solo blocks.
Kinzer was a four-time RMAC Defensive Player of the Week and an RMAC All-Academic First Team student-athlete this season. She was the RMAC Female Athlete of the Month for September. Kinzer is the first Mountain Lion in the 27-year history of the program to earn All-America honors.
UCCS finished the season in the RMAC tournament for the seventh time in the last nine seasons and won 10 matches at home for the first time since 1993.
