COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs freshman outside hitter Madison Palmer earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 3-0 weekend for the Mountain Lion volleyball team. UCCS extended its winning streak to four straight matches in the longest win streak since 2012.

Her seven blocks on Saturday was the best in the conference for a three-set match this weekend and the second-best for the season.

Palmer is No. 11 in the RMAC with 43 blocks this season and tied for No. 22 among Division II freshmen. UCCS has recorded double-digit blocks in the last four matches and had a season-high 13 blocks against Western New Mexico.

Palmer and the rest of the Mountain Lions will be on the road this weekend for a three-match schedule through the northern schools in the conference. UCCS will take on South Dakota School of Mines in a non-conference match on Thursday before the institution joins the RMAC in volleyball in 2015, and will play conference matches on Friday at Black Hills State and on Saturday at Chadron State
