Pink night

UCCS Volleyball to Host Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Tuesday

10/6/2014 5:40:00 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will raise funds and awareness for breast cancer when the Mountain Lion volleyball team hosts Regis on Oct. 7, at the Gallogly Events Center at 7 p.m. All ticket sales and additional donations will be donated to Susan G. Komen of Southeastern Colorado.

The funds raised will be used throughout southeastern Colorado to provide education, screening and treatment for breast cancer. Since 1994, the Susan G. Komen organization has provided more than $6.6 million to the fight against breast cancer. The national Susan G. Komen organization also invests in research to find a cure to a disease that one in eight women will be diagnosed with in her lifetime.

The Mountain Lions will wear pink warm-ups before the start of the match, and fans are encouraged to join the team in wearing pink for the night. Representatives from the local Susan G. Komen organization will also be on hand during Tuesday's event to answer questions and provide materials for individuals who want more information.

Tuesday's match will be the start of a schedule that will feature three of the RMAC's top four teams in six of the next seven matches. Regis is 7-1 in conference play and has won its last seven matches since Sept. 19. UCCS has won six of its last seven matches and is two matches behind the Rangers in the RMAC standings.
